So a bit about me . . .
My name is Gemma and I have worked in the legal sector for 15 years in 3 roles at 3 Kent based firms of varying scale.
I have reported to teams of 2-4 Equity Partners (plus 2 associates) and exclusively worked with one Equity Partner on a 1-2-1 basis. This degree of ownership and variation has resulted in a unique breadth and depth of applied knowledge in the following practice areas:
- private client
- wills and probate
- conveyancing (residential and commercial)
- general company advice
- company formations
- landlord and tenant
- commercial transactions
- corporate finance
- tech & media
- copyright, infringement and patents
- corporate contracts
- litigation (private and business)
- company secretarial
- due diligence
- anti-money laundering
… in other words, everything except criminal and personal injury.
Having always reported at Equity Partner level I am familiar with the pressures and demands synonymous with that environment: working early mornings, evenings, weekends, 3am when the deadline has called for it. To that end, Partners were comfortable passing me any manner of file with as little instruction as “make it disappear”, or entrusting me to move unlimited client funds as the transaction required! In short: I honed the art of professional trust, composure, accuracy and timing.
In 2015 I decided to start my own virtual assistant service, VLPA, specialising in the support of the UK legal profession. The independence it affords enables me to care for my 2 year old daughter, focus on the things I enjoy and offer a service that covers those antisocial hours every lawyer and entrepreneur are only too familiar with.
